The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), in partnership with the Frontiers Research Foundation, has extended the proposal submission deadline for the 2026 African Planet Prize to 9 October 2026. The extension gives prospective participants more time to prepare their entries.
To help those considering an entry, AAS will host an information webinar on 1 October 2026 at 3:00 p.m. East Africa Time (EAT). The webinar is intended for early-career researchers and the universities and research institutions supporting them. It will provide more information about the prize and the submission process before the new deadline.
The African Planet Prize recognises research led by African early-career researchers that advances solutions to planetary challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. Up to three winners will each receive USD 5,000 for career development, alongside global recognition and access to expert mentorship.
